A Virtual Coastal Experience in Camara de Lobos Ending with A Nikita & Poncha Tasting
Join our founder Sean O'Rourke in Camara de Lobos, a charming fishing village on the southern coast of Madeira Island! We will begin by exploring the picturesque fishing port with its colorful boats, set against dramatic cliffs and lush greenery. As we walk through the streets, you will soak in the local culture and scenic beauty that inspired even Winston Churchill to paint here. This place is rich in history, being the first town inhabited by the Portuguese explorer João Gonçalves Zarco. He established the initial settlements and significantly contributed to the recognition of the Madeira Islands. Zarco was also one of the first to spot the islands off the coast of Morocco, marking the beginning of Madeira´s history as a Portuguese territory.
Our tour continues to a stunning lookout point at sunset, where breathtaking panoramic views of the coastline await. From there, we will end with a tasting of two popular local Madeira drinks: Poncha, a citrus cocktail traditionally made with sugarcane rum, and Nikita, a refreshing blend of beer, pineapple, and vanilla ice cream. The perfect way to experience live Madeira´s rich culture and stunning landscapes.
