Day by day itinerary

DAY 1:

A CORUNA OR VIGO - SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA - A CORUNA OR VIGO

  • 10:00 AM: Meet your guide in A Coruña or Vigo at the Cruise ship port, or at your hotel if you are staying in the city.
  • Transfer by highway to Santiago de Compostela (NOTE: About a 1hr driving time)
  • We begin our Gourmet Food Tour of Santiago de Compostela in Praza Cervantes.
  • Walk to Mercado de Abastos de Santiago – the second most visited monument in the city after the Cathedral.
  • Stroll through the market and discover fresh fish and seafood, meats, cheeses, empanada pies, locally grown veggies, liqueurs, and more. Our local expert guide will explain the variety of products you see.
  • After the market visit, enjoy some cheeses right in the market.
  • We’ll take you on a guided tour of some of Santiago’s finest tapas bars, with detailed tastings and explanations of each dish.
  • 1st tapas stop: Located near the market, taste Galician white and red wines paired with innovative tapas.
  • Explore the old town streets of Santiago de Compostela and head to your 2nd tapas stop for traditional tapas paired with Galician wines.
  • From there, make your way to the 3rd and final tapas stop, where you’ll enjoy tapas made with fresh, locally sourced products.
  • Transfer back by highway to Santiago de Compostela NOTE: If you would like to add more time and do a monumental tour visiting the cathedral, please advise for extra cost.)
  • 04:00 PM approx.: Final farewell from our Food & Wine Expert Guide back at your cruise ship or hotel in A Coruña or Vigo.

Important Notes:

  • There is no dress code, but we recommend comfortable walking shoes since we will be walking through the city street.
  • Please advise if you have any restrictions regarding types of food due to allergies, diet, or religious reasions. This must be included in the comments when you make the booking of this tour.
  • No age restrictions: Kids that are from 6 to 11 years old inclusively are allowed on the tour and rates are specified in the price options. You can select the number of children at the time of the book. If under 6 years old kids can still join but any expenses for food or beverages must be paid directly at the venue by the parents.

Cancellation policy

  • Cancellations that are made in writing more than 72hrs before the start time will be refunded fully.  Cancellations 72hrs or less are 100% non-refundable.
  • In the case of bars/restaurants as described above are closed due to unforeseen circumstances we will change to a similar bar/restaurant. In the circumstance if we cannot get three food stops due to availability we will substitute with more food & drinks at two stops. It usually is 3 food locations, but we reserve the right to offer the same amount of food & drinks but at two restaurants/bars.
