Experience a memorable food and wine tour in Vigo, Galicia starting off by exploring the bay of Vigo on a relaxing sail along Vigo Bay aboard a comfortable restored traditional mussel boat. We will see the sustainable mussel farms (bateas) of the fishing village of Moaña renowned for its high-quality mussels, and depending on the weather, we will go towards Limens (Cies Islands, without disembarking) or towards the interior of the bay, Puente de Rande (Rande Bridge), Meirande. Get to know the fishing tradition and history of Galicia and admire the breathtaking beaches and dramatic coastline with seafaring villages located on the banks of the Bay of Vigo.
Besides the cruise of Vigo Bay, we will also get to taste the amazing fresh mussels paired with Albariño wine, known as the wines of the sea!
Explore the streets of Vigo's Old Town and admire the beautiful architecture of historical buildings while savouring the food and wine stopping at selected tapas places. Learn about the history of the city from the granite stone buildings and streets that hide the past of Vigo. Walk to important landmarks of the city such as Alameda da Praza de Compostela Park a wonderful residential area located near the city centre and the port, Garcia Barbon Theatre, Puerta de Sol (Sun Square) which divides the city from the old fishing town and the new town, and other must-see sites. Stop at three tapas restaurants/taverns within the old town, tasting delicious tapas, canned seafood made of Centollo (spider-crab), Arroz de Marisco (Seafood Fishermans Rice), Tarta de Santiago almond cake, Galician cheeses paired with excellent Galician wines from the different Appellations; D.O. Ribeiro (the oldest appellation of origin in Galicia), D.O Ribeira Sacra, D.O Rias Baixas Albarino white wine, among other fine wines.
