As Neves is a small village located in the wine region of Rias Baixas in southern Galicia, Spain right next door to the town of Arbo. It is separated from Portugal by the Miño River. This small municipality stands out for the abundance of remains from the Palaeolithic and Neolithic times, such as; A Pedra da Moura and Monte das Cabroeiras where you can find ancient petroglyphs and mámoas (these are small stone constructions that contain one or more burials).

Take advantage of these natural surrounding following along the numerous walking trails such as; Ruta de Os Frades (The Route of the Friars streams) where you can see Roman bridges, mills, churches, and casas señoriales (stately homes). Or the Sendeiro dos Pescadores (Fishermen’s trail), a route through which the fishermen used to get to the fishing sites on the river miño.
The inhabitants of As Neves live mainly from agriculture such as the cultivation of corn, vineyards, potatoes, forage products, and fruits. The cattle industry is also very important, as well as fishing in the Miño River, catching lamprey, eel, and salmon.
A place of rich gastronomy where you can taste the delicious honey from the area, paired with its exquisite Requeixon Cheese. A good time to visit and taste these locally sourced specialities is during the festival Feira do Requeixon e do Mel in April every year.
